Egbetokun said, "ASUU OUA, although unanimously condemning the criminal act of kidnapping not only as a crime against humanity and the state, also noted that it is an act of barbarism that violates the Constitution, laws and the customary decency of Nigeria .
"ASUU OAU also sadly acknowledged the degrees of fear, fear and anxiety that permeate the atmosphere in which the academic staff, students and other members of the university community are now fulfilling their duties at Obafemi Awolowo University.
"This is an unwanted development capable of lowering the morale of workers and destroying academic, teaching and research activities.
"ASUU OUA also noted that although the crime of kidnapping is not new in Nigeria, its increase and its gradual incursion into the state of Osun, which is often celebrated as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, is considered a cause for concern and of great concern.
